Visiting Scholar, Dr. Rob Cavanagh: Measures with Meaning in the Human Sciences  (Conferences / Seminars / Lectures)

Visiting Scholar Rob Cavanagh, PhD is a Professor and Director of Research in the School of Education at Curtin University. He works with advanced degree students in the design and reporting of their thesis work. Rob is passionate about well-being metrics-the measurement of attributes of persons and phenomena in the human sciences that contribute to individual and collective well-being. He believes that in education, too much attention is given to what is readily available and easily quantified such as economic and psychometric data. This is in contrast to constructing new measures to learn more about learning, teaching and other interpersonal activities.

Workshop, intended for doctoral students and interested faculty, will cover theoretical and practical issues that arise in the measurement of human abilities and attributes.
